Proceeds from the 2008 Charleroi Little Great Race are going to Carol Cowell.
In 1993 Carol was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor was removed and she was able to return to her normal life. In 2006 the tumor returned and was partially removed. The removal weakened the left side of her body and she became physically unable to work. Up until 2006, Carol worked at Lee Supply Company.
Although the 2006 operation robbed Carol of her ability to work, it did not affect her spirit or attitude. She remains upbeat and continues to fight. Carol vowed, "I will never give up!"
Carol is a life long resident of Roscoe , Pennsylvania where she is very active in her church, The Presbyterian Church of Roscoe, where she serves on the board of Deacons and session committee.
Proceeds from the 2007 Charleroi Little Great Race went to Christine Greco who is
suffering from Devic's Disease.
I am Christine Greco, my husband is Tony Greco and we have two children, Antonio Greco, age 16, and Nicole Greco, age 13. We also have a 2 year old dog named Kobe. We reside in Carroll Township .
Before being diagnosed with Devic's Disease, I was a healthy, working mother. The onset of Devic's was sudden; it began with temporary loss of my vision and later paralysis from the chest down. With stays at various Pittsburgh hospital and specialized treatments and therapy, I have regained some movement and continue to go to physical therapy with the hope of regaining complete mobility.
With the help of my family, friends, priest, parishioners, co-workers and lots and lots of prayers, I feel I have come a long way. Although Devic's can reoccur unexpectedly, my goal is to live life one day at a time and enjoy each day that we have together.
